I said goodbye to work nightmares!

Andy Young. Ex Marketing Manager.

Andy, Senior Consultant
“I loved marketing and brands but was ready for a new type of challenge. As a consultant, I’ve been able to make a hugely positive contribution to people’s careers and am still in contact with many of my old colleagues, since most of them are now clients of mine! The incredible people here at The SG Group blow away any preconceptions I had of ‘typical recruiters’ and you can see from my photo that they’re very understanding of my extracurricular activities!”

Work is wicked!

Left: Jo Nothling, Ex Senior Marketing Exec
Right: Anna Goater, Ex Sports masseuse

Anna, Junior Consultant:
“I wanted a busy, fast-paced and challenging job in a great company where I would have lots of people contact – and I found it. The SG Group offers all of that, plus more. I meet amazing people everyday, I don’t stop from the minute I get in but I work with a great bunch and enjoy every minute. It’s not a pushy, sales-orientated company and that appealed to me the most – oh yes, and dressing up in bling!”

Jo, Consultant
“Looking at this photo, I really couldn’t believe I was doing this! But that’s all part of the unique experience and focus on people that we have here! There was absolutely no emphasis on people in my previous marketing role. I joined The SG Group because their values were true, honest and actually meant something to me.”

Work worries? Don't make me laugh!

Jenny Worth. Ex Campaign manager.

Jenny, Senior Consultant
“I joined in 2001 having worked as a Campaign Manager at Natwest. I wanted a complete change from marketing and really wanted to help people. The SG Group were flexible and offered me a role for a few weeks to see what it was like working for them and that was over seven years ago! I’ve had lots of fun including dressing up as a clown to entertain children at a charity fundraising awayday, although I think I probably ended up scaring them more than making them laugh!”

Bad days are Alien to me!

Freya Keith. Ex Account Manager

Freya, Senior Consultant
“11 years of working long hours as an Account Director for agencies had knocked the stuffing out of me. I decided to change direction and realised that in working for The SG Group I could put that 11 years worth of knowledge to good use and not have to start again on a junior salary. Over eight years later and I’m still in a fantastic job with great people and applying my marketing knowledge every day. That said, dressing up as an Alien on Brighton seafront was not in the original job description!”

Caroline Hawker, Senior Consultant
“I didn’t find The SG Group, they found me! I was bored and didn’t know what to do next. I didn’t want another marketing job where I would be doing the same thing just with a different product – I wanted something new. I saw an advert asking if I was looking for a fresh start, where I could apply all of the marketing skills I’d learnt. I’d been a candidate and had been impressed with the whole ethos of the company and their people-orientated approach, both internally and externally – decision made.”

Work is no dirty word!

Lou Bushell, Ex Events Manager

Lou, Experiential Marketing Manager
“I had known of The SG Group for years before I started working here – I was actually one of their first candidates 15 years ago. But eight years ago I was asked to provide holiday cover and I’m still here. I’m the Experiential Marketing Manager now but have changed my role, or identity, three or four times since the beginning. I’ve been able to develop and grow with the business and consider myself incredibly lucky that the business has been flexible and encouraged me to do this. There’s a great atmosphere in the office and I get to do great marketing for a great brand!”

Why is the SG Group different?

Lisa Campagnola, Ex PR Account Manager

Lisa, Senior Consultant
“Making a real difference is important to me and I felt that marketing just wasn’t offering that to me. Recruitment at The SG Group ticked all of the right boxes. I love chatting and meeting people and it’s so rewarding helping candidates reach their goals. The office is buzzing and we have a great boss – what more could you ask for?”

Derby Day: 7 June

Our annual Derby Day is one of the highlights of the staff calendar! Our Leader of Vision and Values, Claire, bravely opens the door to her home and invites the company to a day at the races! And if horses aren’t your thing, you can relax by the pool, enjoy a glass of wine and chat to your friends in a thoroughly enjoyable day out!

Dragon Boat Racing: 5 June

What do you get when you place twelve (willing) members of staff into a 30ft Hong Kong Dragon Boat? A great afternoon out and the chance to raise some serious money for a worthwhile cause! All in the name of charity, some fearless members of The SG clan splashed their way across a lake in Wimbledon Park, braving hot sun, warm water and the watchful eye of the entire office! Although we didn’t win, we finished with soggy smiles on our faces and raised £600 for the Anthony Nolan Trust. Click here to visit the website.

London Better Together Day: 16 May

We rather like London, so decided to make it better! This May, some of our more ‘hands-on’ staff took part in the London Better Together Campaign, donating their (varying) DIY skills to improve a local school. A team of ten green-fingered and artistic volunteers set to work on the Alexandra Nursery and Infant School in Hounslow – just check out their handiwork! Click here to visit the website...

15th Birthday Celebrations

We recently celebrated our fifteenth birthday and in true SG style, went all out and descended on trendy London restaurant ‘Roast’ for the afternoon. As well as sampling their wonderful wines and fantastic food, we raised money for a worthwhile charity! Everyone taking turns to do a ‘skit’ on the microphone meant our singing (some better than others), jokes and auctions for home-baked cheesecakes raised a staggering £3,300! One of the team has recently returned from a sabbatical helping to build an orphanage in Tanzania, which is why the decision to donate the money raised to this worthwhile cause www.goodhopechildren.org was an easy one. Not bad for a lunchtime’s work!
